3 Easy Towel-Folding Tricks To Impress Your Guests

Written By
Osi Egwuogu

Yay, it's the holiday season again! One sweet thing about the holidays is that you'll get time off from work and more quality time with your loved ones. However, this could also mean a busy house with guests you must attend to. So what better time to impress your guests than now, and what simpler way than with a towel-folding trick?

It might not sound like much, but a beautifully-folded towel can put a smile on your guests' faces. Also, how you fold your towels leaves a great impression on your guests, so it's best to learn some towel-folding tips early to dazzle them.

Easy Towel-Folding Techniques

If you’ve been trying to learn how to fold towels, it’s really not so hard. It’s also one of many fantastic storage tips that could help when you need more space in your home. Learning the following techniques will improve your towel-folding game, give your bathroom a good look and feel, and leave your guests impressed.

  1. The Third-Fold Technique:

With this folding technique, you will end up with a compact, space-saving fold with this method. Therefore, it is excellent if you love keeping your towels on an open shelf. It goes like this:

  • While standing, hold both ends of one of the short sides of the towel. It should be such that the longer side of the towel is falling toward your feet.
  • In your head, divide the towel into three. Fold one of the ends you’re holding a third of the way in the direction of the other end.
  • Fold the other end a third as well, in the direction of the folded end. It should be such that it covers the folded end.
  • Fold the longer side of the towel in half, from the end in your hands to the end falling towards your feet.
  • Fold the folded longer side in half again.
  • Stack it on your shelf; it’s best if you stack it hiding the open part of the towel at the back of the shelf.

  1. The Pocket & Fan Technique

This method requires a bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth. Yes, you’ll need three towels, but this folding technique is still really simple. Here’s how to do it:

  • Fold your bath towel into thirds like the third-fold method above, and hang it on your towel rack.
  • Place a hand towel flat on the floor.
  • Fold the towel 2/3 in the direction of the longer side.
  • Fold the top of the just-folded part over itself.
  • Turn over the setup. The part touching the floor should be facing up now, while the folded part should be touching the floor.
  • Fold both sides of the towel (lengthwise) towards each other.
  • Stuff the right side into the opening of the left side to get one pocket. Keep the towel aside.
  • Place a washcloth on the floor.
  • Fold in the edge where the tag is, flip over and fold in again. Keep flipping and folding until the end of the washcloth.
  • Fold the setup in half such that it looks like a fan.
  • Tuck the washcloth into the pocket of the hand towel.
  • Hang the hand towel with the washcloth over the bath towel on the rack.

  1. The Roll Technique

This technique was made famous by spas. It’s even more space-saving than the first technique. Here's how to do it.

  • Place a towel on the floor or any surface.
  • Cross one end of the short side to the center of the towel. After this, one half of the towel will look like a right-angle triangle and the other like a square.
  • Fold the towel (the square side) in half the long way without ruining the triangle.
  • Turn over the towel, so the folded part touches the surface or floor.
  • Roll the towel up tightly from the square to the triangle part.
  • Tuck the pointed edge of the triangle into the roll.
